Verizon and World Vision: Marketing Partners

I had to call Verizon's customer service this morning and saw the following widget in their sidebar:

Not sure why it struck me. I mean, if you're doing good, reputable, work, then companies such as Verizon shouldn't hesitate to partner with you - even if you're a Christian organization - right?

This sort of "witness," or reputation by followers of Jesus, made me think of the recent New York Time Op-Ed article, Learning from the Sin of Sodom.

Fascinating article - had no idea World Vision was so big but I agree that as Christians we need to engage the world with the love of Jesus Christ in practical, counter-culture ways. It's encouraging to see many Christian orgs doing this today.

ESI, we just did a series on Richard Stearn's "A Hole in Our Gospel" in Sunday School. I fear that many of us got through it (almost) as numb and disengaged as we went into it.

This reawakens my larger fear that this [social justice movement] too shall pass.
