Land Rover on the other side of life

Getting out and away is essential human behavior. I know it every time I'm there and yet my day-timer says I could take it or leave it. What interests me about the following Land Rover ads is that I feel the need to get away from the full life they depict even though I've chosen to have the full life they depict.

That's the kicker. I like my life and nearly everything in it. So what causes me to fantasize about being in that vehicle on the other side of the planet?

It's good marketing.

Maybe if you filmed your full life with all kinds of special lenses and effects, I would covet it too!

It is good to remind myself (like you just did) that I like my life and nearly everything in it. Sometimes I makes lists of all the things I like about my life. Ann V's gratitude community helps me too. Even though I haven't been posting my gratitude lists lately, it has changed the way I see the world to search for those things and SEE them!

Happy happy, Sam!

Thanks for stopping by, Laura. There is a hyper-real allure to the ad world, no? Still, it conjures something we all somehow know, some Edenic memory that grabs our attention when life is any bit less than perfect.

All the more reason to practice gratitude. It's like the antidote. They say the kids least likely to be consumeristic are those who are grateful for what they have. I believe it (though I still want to be in the Land Rover).
